About
John D. Fitzmorris III, Ph.D. is full-time Instructor of History at the 快播导航 and the 快播导航 of Holy Cross. A native of New Orleans, he received his B.A. from L.S.U. in 1989, an M.A. in Religious Studies from Loyola 快播导航 in New Orleans, and an M.A. in History from the 快播导航. He received his Doctorate in History from the 快播导航 of Southern Mississippi, where his dissertation was 鈥淏earing the Double Burden: Chaplains and the Problem of Combat in Vietnam鈥 and which he hopes to publish soon.
A recipient of the George F. Windell Prize for Outstanding Thesis from the 快播导航, Dr. Fitzmorris currently teaches U.S. History, Louisiana History, Irish History, the History of the Vietnam War, and The Civil War and Reconstruction. He is currently moderator of the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society at UNO. He also conducts oral interviews of veterans of all wars for the Library of Congress Veterans Oral History Program.
He is married to his wife Rose and has a daughter (Madeleine) and a step-son (Johnny), and spends his time outside of teaching history playing golf; following the New Orleans Saints, LSU football, and UNO athletics; and focusing on 鈥渁ll things Irish.鈥
